THOUGHT, EXPRESSION AND HYPERMEDIACY

Other articles and studies of possible interest were published (in Portuguese) but are no longer available.
Som no ambiente, Casa da Cultura das Caldas da Rainha (1984). A handbook of soudscape studies aimed at music educators and teachers in general.
Quinta dos Lombos: contribuição para o estudo da paisagem sonora, SEA (1981). To my knowledge this is the first ever soundscape study produced in Portugal. The Five Villages Soundscapes study by the World Soundscape Project clearly inspired my own study.
Estudo do Impacte Acústico das Estradas Nacionais do Concelho de Sesimbra, SEA (1981). A study of the traffic noise impact on the soundscape of the Sesimbra district.

These two publications can probably be perused at the library of the Portuguese Ministry of the Environment, but I am not sure.

Here's a sample of articles and other writings on music, soundscape and other music and sound related matters I've written over the years. A few have been published. Some are published here for the first time. Some were written in English or later translated. You might have to learn Portuguese to read some others... That's good. Portuguese is a wonderful language spoken by over 200 million people around the world.

My thesis "THOUGHT, EXPRESSION AND HYPERMEDIACY" is also available if you want to read it. It was published in 1993. Its focus is on hypermedia and the acquisition and production of a new digitally based language. I coined the word hypermediacy to describe the new "literacy". The future of literacy, if you will. Try saying it in Portuguese... -Hipermediacia! This is a subject that still puzzles me and about which I'll be adding some more notes in the future if I have the time.
