I have been involved in music both as composer, musician and sound designer. I also work in other audio-visual media, traditional analog or digitally based, as author, director and producer. I have also had a role of some kind in many other forms of art, communication and media production.

In the early 80's I put together a few innovative bands  which included a number of quite talented and now well established Portuguese musicians.  Later my work started focusing almost exclusively on music for theatre, multimedia and video.

I wrote the music or designed the acoustic setting for over 30 plays performed by theatre companies in Portugal and elsewhere, ranging from classical to contemporary theatre. I cooperated with well known theatre directors in Portugal and Brazil in plays by the likes of Aristophanes, Shakespeare, Corneille, Goldoni, Pirandello, Brecht, Heiner Müller, Jean-Pierre Sarrazac (several plays by this pivotal contemporary French author, check him out if you have the opportunity!), Christoff Hein and many others. One special project in which I was involved was the play titled Supernova by Portuguese writer Abel Neves  staged by Fernando Mora Ramos. I was responsible for the music and sound design of this play which premiered on April 25th, 2000 at the Teatro Villa Velha (S. Salvador da Bahia, Brazil) and toured Portugal afterwards (Porto, Viseu and Évora).

After this, I was invited by Marcio Meirelles to co-write the music for "Material Fatzer"  Teatro Villa Velha's brilliant production based on Brecht's intriguing text "Decline of the Egoïst Johann Fatzer".

If you happen to be in Brazil, near S. Salvador da Bahia, have a look at their program to check if the play's being offered at the moment. You can watch here a video of their activity.

Meanwhile, take a look at a partial list of my previous and most recent work...
