Other musical events...
Several newly created and traditional musical events which regularly take place in Coimbra had special programs tailored to the characteristics of Coimbra, Capital Nacional da Cultura, 2003 and were included in our music program. A promising newly created event specially dear to me is called Jazz ao Centro - Encontros Internacionais de Jazz de Coimbra. CCNC-2003 supported 2003's festival with the aid of the Municipality of Coimbra. In addition to the concerts that took place every month throughout the year (the series finished on December 6 with the group Mujician), Jazz ao Centro included the particularly successfull visits to the schools of Coimbra (photos on the left) and workshops in which local musicians took part (see for example a photo of the workshop with Portuguese violin player Carlos Zíngaro)
Stay tuned for this year's festival which will be in two parts and will have lots of extra activities.. The first part of the 2004's edition of JAC started on March. Check out their site for the full program.
